Last night, the Girls Track and Field squad faced off against the #2 team in the state, the North Central Panthers. While there were many fantastic individual performances, the Bearcats ultimately dropped the team competition by a score of 82-41.
Event winners from last night include Victoria Hardnett, who won the high jump with a leap of 5’4″. Victoria also won the 100 hurdles with a personal best time of 16.36. Garynn Sims-Jones won the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.45. Sayla McIntosh won the 300 hurdles with a season best time of 51.00.
Samantha Fowler set a new personal best in the 3200 meter run with a time of 13:49, taking second place in the event. Amya Kates also set a new personal best in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.00, also taking second place in the event. The 4 x 100 relay team of Sayla McIntosh, Destiny Donati, Garynn Sims-Jones, and Victoria Hardnett set a new season best time of 52.39. The 4 x 400 relay team of Sayla McIntosh, Victoria Hardnett, Ja’Viona Smith, and Destiny Donati also set a new season best time of 4:29.55.
The girls track team will compete next at the Muncie Central Girls Invitational this Saturday, May 1 at Muncie Central Stadium.
