Multiple Teams · Ready.Set.Breathe Night Aug. 30th

Ready.Set.Breathe! is a 5k/1 mile run/walk benefiting the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, in memory of Michael Perry.  Ready.Set.Breathe! is an annual event held at Morrow’s Meadow with the proceeds going to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.  Over the last 5 years, Ready.Set.Breathe! has had the honor of donating approximately $50,000 to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation whose mission is to raise awareness, provide disease education, and fund research to one day find a cure for Pulmonary Fibrosis.  Pulmonary Fibrosis is a terminal lung disease, which affects one out of 200 adults over the age of 65.  Each year, approximately 50,000 new cases are diagnosed and approximately 40,000 Americans losing their life to Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Michael Perry was the grandfather of Mara Perry, a freshman on the Bearcat volleyball team.  He also had a connection with the Cowan program as his daughter, Kim, played volleyball for Cowan while he held the role of the scout for the team.  Mike was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2003, during Kim’s sophomore year at Cowan, but he didn’t let that stop him from being involved.  He made sure he was on the bench for every single game.  In 2011, eight years later, he lost his battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.

On August 30th, $3.00 from each ticket sold at the Varsity/JV VB match vs Cowan will be donated to the Ready.Set.Breathe organization to then be donated to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in memory of Mike Perry, a great husband, father, grandfather and supporter of Delaware Co. Volleyball.  We hope to see you there to help support a great cause!
